Description

This short read (20 pages) is perfect for a coffee break and includes the first three chapters from Lee Child’s new thriller – Past Tense.
Jack Reacher likes to head south for the winter, to stay warm: so just before Christmas he arrives in a small town in Southern California. But the weather there is not warm and dry, as it’s supposed to be: he arrives in a freak blizzard. Reacher finds refuge in a snowed-in roadhouse with four other strangers stranded by the storm. Two of them are British military police, separated by the weather from the VIP they are detailed to protect. Can Reacher help them find their guy, or will an undercover assassin find him first?

What a waste of money. Shortest story I’ve ever seen.

Book store says 54 pages. This story starts on page 5, ends on page 39. The rest is a preview of Child’s next book. Not worth .99p
  • Disappointing commercial opportunist. Do not waste your money.

Come on Mr Child. Are you really that hard up that you feel the need to charge 99p for what is no more than a 6th form essay. The plot starts ok and I thought OK, it’s only a little over 80 pages, be a nice distraction for an hour or so, but it soon descends into an eye rolling “Really?” as the (and I hesitate to use the word), drama unfolds. And to add insult to injury the thing is only 30-odd pages long, with the rest comprising more than 60% of your purchase being an extract from the coming Reacher novel due in November. Leaves a very bitter taste and a Tom Cruise-sized sense of disappointment.
