Description

Can you commit the perfect crime?

Pilgrim is the codename for a man who doesn’t exist. The adopted son of a wealthy American family, he once headed up a secret espionage unit for US intelligence. Before he disappeared into anonymous retirement, he wrote the definitive book on forensic criminal investigation.

But that book will come back to haunt him. It will help NYPD detective Ben Bradley track him down. And it will take him to a rundown New York hotel room where the body of a woman is found facedown in a bath of acid, her features erased, her teeth missing, her fingerprints gone. It is a textbook murder – and Pilgrim wrote the book.

What begins as an unusual and challenging investigation will become a terrifying race-against-time to save America from oblivion. Pilgrim will have to make a journey from a public beheading in Mecca to a deserted ruins on the Turkish coast via a Nazi death camp in Alsace and the barren wilderness of the Hindu Kush in search of the faceless man who would commit an appalling act of mass murder in the name of his God.

Terry Hayes are created a niche for himself with I am Pilgrim. The plot, the writing style, everything is brilliant. He effortlessly stitches up portions of the character’s past and present, keeping you intrigured and guessing till the end. Can’t wait for his next book in 2017.

Probably one of the cleverest books I have read in a long time, several separate storylines each keeping the suspense going, then all of them finally culminating into the main storyline which runs through the book. Very clever writing, kept me hooked literally from the opening page, which meant I couldn't put it down (lots of lost sleep). You just want to read on and on to see what happens next. Well done Mr Hayes hope the next book is as good. Thank you!

Right from the start I was caught. I found the book difficult to put down. A great mixture of recent and current history with a plausible fictitious story line entwined. Fully recommend this book

Absolutely breathtaking read. At time my heart pounded, my hands shook and my brow moistened. This novel will have you on the edge of your seat, cursing and applauding humanity at the same time. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that I learned a few facts along the way. Everyone should read this book, there's a strong chance it will be the best thriller you ever read.
